The responsibility of the truck driver is to assure the safe and timely delivery of material to and from the job site. Drivers will perform proper maintenance and care of their truck, completion of all paperwork, assisting with equipment operators and laborers. Good public relations with customers is needed. This position is located in North Dakota.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive an end dump, side dump, tractor trailer (semi) or any construction truck.
Drive on job site for loading and unloading.
Operate truck to release load.
Perform pre-and post trip inspections on equipment, pursuant to D.O.T. regulations.
Upon arriving on job site, driver must be able to safely maneuver truck in often very unstable ground conditions.
Prior to leaving job site, driver is responsible for completing all paper.
Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
Document any maintenance that may be required.
Problem prevention/solving – able to proactively identify and solve problems and enlist the help of others as necessary.
A minimum of 3 years’ related experience and/or training.
Must be able to pass a federal Department of Transportation drug/alcohol screening and physical.
Must have a valid Class A or CDL.
Must have a valid Medical Card as per DOT standard/or will get one.
Knowledge of operating heavy equipment.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction.
Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations and construction sites.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Must be able to take orders, instructions, and guidance from supervisors.
Drivers must have a valid Department of Transportation certified CDL.
Drivers must maintain a satisfactory driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations and company policy.
Must adhere to safety requirements and procedures, and wearing of required safety equipment and clothing.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Moderately strenuous work. Must be able to climb in and out of the truck many times a day. The bottom of the seat is approximately 50 inches from the ground.
Frequently performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as standing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching; climb, balance, talk and hear.
Exposed to exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
Ability to move and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
May be exposed to harsh weather conditions.
May be exposed to loud noise.
